Subject Knowledge Enhancement

We can support teachers who are not English graduates in their delivery of English / literacy to key stage 2 students. Our sessions can help you to gain the depth of subject knowledge and skills you need to be able to teach English at key stage 2 as well as providing you with a  valuable insight into the steps after key stage 2 when students study English at key stage 3 and GCSE. Shakespeare workshops

We love teaching Shakespeare at key stage 3, 4 and 5. We can offer support to key stage 2 teachers in planning, preparing and resourcing an engaging and insightful introduction to Shakespeare’s plays for your key stage 2 students. Please contact us for more details.

Curriculum Resourcing

We are proud of our curriculum design for both key stage 3 and key stage 4. We have spent years refining our long term plans and assessment procedures in order to ensure we are instilling a love for English as well as guaranteeing success in GCSEs. We can share our plans, schemes and resources with you and help you adapt these to suit your school’s context.

New Heads of English

We can work with and alongside new Heads of English in their new roles. We understand what it is like to run an English department and can bring a wealth of tried and tested ideas and resources to help support the development of the department.

Ofsted Preparation

We have successfully led our departments through six Ofsted visits. We can help English departments with their Departmental Improvement Plans, observations, learning walks and other quality assurance procedures, offering you an impartial view on your department’s strengths and areas for development.

How to get the grade 5 in English Language – using our knowledge as senior examiners we can provide your teachers with the insight in to how to gain the grade 5 in English Language. We can provide resources, examples and standardised scripts that provide teachers with a wealth of knowledge to take in to the classroom.

Exam Marking – we can deliver sessions on how to mark the GCSE papers accurately. With our knowledge as senior examiners we can inform teachers how marks are awarded. We can provide standardised scripts for teachers to use in the classroom and for moderation purposes. .

A Level English Literature

We can offer CPD sessions on the following:

Securing grades: As experienced teachers, examiners and moderators of A Level English Literature, we know the common features of answers in each band of the mark scheme. We can provide examples, standardised scripts and resources for you to use with your students.

Text enhancement courses: We can share our extensive knowledge of key A Level English Literature texts. We can provide packages of resources as well as running supportive sessions for teachers to develop their own subject knowledge.

Success in Non-Exam Assessments: We know the value of securing the highest marks possible in A Level English Literature coursework essays. We can provide training on how to run this component with your students, covering text choices, success criteria and the re-drafting process. We can also share model exemplar essays with you and help you with making and moderating your coursework essays.
